Dinner is Served!
Rotary Club Brantford & Sunrise Rotary Club Brantford Team Up in Support of Why Not Youth Centre!
On January 27th, 2020, members of the Rotary Club of Brantford and Rotary Club of Brantford Sunrise visited the Why Not Youth Centre in Brantford to serve dinner. The clubs serve dinner to approximately 50-60 youth on the last Monday of each month and can be anything from pizza to homecooked chili, pasta or even a turkey dinner! The young people who attend Why Not have a few things in common: almost all of them live in poverty, most only have contact with one or fewer of their parents, and even fewer have a safe, consistent place to live. Many of the young people attending the centre are “mobile,” living in three or more places each year. While the organization is not a shelter and doesn’t have beds (yet!), it does function like a community living room, so that no matter how many places they sleep, the youth have a safe place to visit 5 nights a week and get a free meal. The clubs are honoured to support this incredible organization in the community!
