It's all systems go for the 2009 Brantford air show taking place in the skies above Brant County Wednesday, September 2, 2009.  The Air Show organizers and the Rotary Club of Brantford announced today that they have combined forces to put on this year's annual classic.  Feature acts include The Canadian Forces Snow Birds, the CF-18 Hornet demo team, the precision parachute Skyhawks squad and about three hours of heritage and fighter jet acts from the Canadian and US Air Forces.  The name of the event has been changed to reflect this new partnership, "The Rotary Brantford Charity Air Show".

"This is a great day for Brant, the organizing committee and Rotary," said Rotary Club of Brantford President-Elect John McGraw.  "Rotary is a community builder and a charity fundraiser.  The opportunity to work with the organizers to take the show to a new level while fundraising money for needy kids in Brant is a perfect partnership."

Dean Braund, President of the Brant United Way Board, was also enthusiastic.  "The air show was a tremendous success as the United Way kickoff for the past nine years.  Our board could not be happier to see the event continue with Rotary, and we know it will be a great success."  Rotary has pledged to donate 50% the net proceeds to the United Way for use at one of its member agencies, the Brantford Boys' and Girls' Club.

"Brant charities need help more than ever this year," said Gary Surette, spokesman for the organizing committee.  "This 10th Year Anniversary show will give everyone a show to remember and an event to rally around raising money for those in need.  Every dollar raised stays here in Brant helping neighbours and friends in our community."  In addition to supporting the Boys' and Girls' Club, proceeds from the air show will support Brant charities including The Lansdowne Children's Centre and other Rotary designated charities.

A charity dinner with the pilots takes place on Tuesday evening, September 1.  Tickets will be available from the Rotary office in August.  The air show event opens at 12:00 noon September 2, 2009 at the BrantMunicipalAirport.  Midway attractions, food and family entertainment are available all day and show time starts at about 3:00PM.
