I have tons to share! I just returned to my home (in Germany) after I was traveling across Germany for two weeks. I spent a week in the Rhine river area (St.Goar) with my host-family, and a week long bus trip to Berlin with Rotary; with stops in a DDR (east german) border, Buchenwald Concentration camp, Berlin, and then Wolfsburg Volkswagon museum (unfortunatly in Wolfsburg my camera was kaput (broken, and I did not know before Deutschland that kaput was a German word!)) I have taken many photos, and have had a fantastic experience travelling across Germany. It is a unique and special feeling finally seeing in person everything you have read about in books or seen in films. I felt like the luckiest person in the world finally being able to see what I have dreamt about all of my life.

ImageHallo Bruce and Karen!

Wie geht es dir? (how are you)

It is great to hear from you, and I feel very proud after reading your letter, thank you very much (vielen dank), it is hard to put into words how happy I was reading the letter you sent me, but you could say I was smiling from ear to ear.

I am sorry for the delay in response, but I have tons to share! I just returned to my home (in Germany) after I was traveling across Germany for two weeks. I spent a week in the Rhine river area (St.Goar) with my host-family, and a week long bus trip to Berlin with Rotary; with stops in a DDR (east german) border, Buchenwald Concentration camp, Berlin, and then Wolfsburg Volkswagon museum (unfortunatly in Wolfsburg my camera was kaput (broken, and I did not know before Deutschland that kaput was a German word!)) across Germany. Rotary has already changed my life aswell, and how I see the world, and I greatful that there is a program like this that allows people like me to follow their dreams.

I have been assigned a counsellor, and I did not know them very well so I made a point of going to a restauraunt with him to get to know him better. He is very kind man and a pilot, and he is helping me to join a golf club.
I have been very active in Germany as well. I often do not realize how busy my days are untill I realize I have to sleep! on mondays I have Rotary, tuesdays volleyball, wednesdays shooting classes (air rifle range) thursday volleyball, fridays badminton, saterdays free (no not really haha) and on sundays scouts! And in between all of that, spontainious thinking, friends and school.

I am glad that Balasz and Maeva are doing great, I had no doubts they would not haha, how is their English doing? I can understand and speak in most German easy conversations, but I can still get confused easily. They are both very nice and I am proud they are in Brantford. And that is really cool that Balasz was able to go to the UN! Did he enjoy it? And I hope the interviews are going well, and that we have some very good students. If there is anything I can do to help, let me know!
And how was your trip to the Atlantic wall?

Thank you once again for writing to me, it is always great to hear from you.

Dankeshön,
und Tchuess!

Joel
